Sickness

It has been a long week of sickness.  Last Saturday after a full day of celebrating my grandma's 65th birthday and retirement and visiting a friend's new baby, Caleb had a very runny nose (the kind where you can tell he has an infection - I'll spare you the details) and started throwing up.  Sunday morning he threw up again and obviously was feeling miserable, so we took him to urgent care in Onamia.  After a long wait (an ambulance got there just before us), the doctor announced that he had a double ear infection.  We weren't surprised, he has had quite a few.  So we took home the amoxicillian and assumed that he'd be feeling better in a couple of days.  Sometime in there he also developed a pretty harsh cough, and is pushing through his bottom two eye teeth.  Tuesday I was hesitant to send him to daycare, but Trina assured me that he played all day and seemed fine.  Tuesday night he seemed a little dehydrated because he didn't wet a diaper all evening.  Wednesday during school I got a call from Caleb's daycare at lunchtime.  Apparently Caleb had still not wet a diaper and was refusing to eat anything.  So I left school early and brought him to the clinic in Mora.  His antibiotic was not working - one ear still severely infected.  So they switched him to a new antibiotic, told us to begin giving him nebulizer treatments every four to six hours, and also to push all the liquids down him as possible.  So I stayed home from youth group Wednesday night with Caleb, offering him as much juice as he would drink.  I also was not feeling very great, so I decided to stay home on Thursday with Caleb.  We had an ok day considering, and enjoyed watching all the snow fall.  It was also nice to have Joel home early from school!  Last night Caleb decided it'd be good to add one more symptom to the list, so he started having diarrhea.  I can't think of anything else that could happen.  Needless to say, we're all exhausted, and I sure didn't expect this to last all week.  Hopefully a quiet weekend will do us all some good.  Please pray that Caleb wouldn't get any more dehydrated and that the antibiotic will begin working. 

Slumber

Last night I snuck in to Caleb's room to check on him and admire him while he slept (like I do every night), and I was slightly alarmed when I saw this:

But then I peeked around the side and saw that Caleb could indeed breathe! Too funny!

Of course I called Joel in right away to giggle with me, and then I took these pictures. He didn't even stir after the two flashes - which would usually wake him up. And he didn't move until about 5:00 this morning when he started crying because his leg was stuck!

Update on Simply Pure

Thank you so much for praying for the scheduling problem with Simply Pure!  The Lord is so good and He worked everything out so well.  Our speaker, Molly Barnhart, had another group cancel for the night that worked for us!  So our conference is going to be Friday, March 20th.  Any prayers for this event would be much appreciated.  It's such a passion of mine!  Sarah and I have been planning a little each week, and things are really coming along.  My junior high girls are getting really excited, so I'm praying the senior high girls jump on board as well.  Pray for the girls to come with open hearts - soft to God's calling for their lives.  Molly is a phenomenal speaker (check out her website), so I'm excited to see how the girls will be challenged.  I am having all the junior high girls overnight at my house following the service, so you can also pray for conversations about the Lord to flow naturally from our friendships and from what Molly says.  Again, thank you for praying for the hearts of these girls and all of the planning that goes into the weekend!
